शिक्षा के महान दिग्गजो ने अधिकारी कुर्सी पर बैठकर बडे अह्म फैसले लिये और शिक्षा को महानतम स्तर पर पहुंचा दिया। शिक्षा को विद्यार्थी केन्द्रित कर दिया गया। शरीरिक दण्ड पर रोक, चाईल्ड प्रोटेक्शन एक्ट, मिड - डे मील और शिक्षा के अधिकार से विद्यार्थियों को ओत प्रोत कर दिया। पर शिक्षा के स्तर में जितनी गिरावट आज हो रही है इतनी पहले कभी नहीं हुई। और लगता है कि यह गिरावट निम्नतम स्तर तक जाकर ही दम लेगी। आज जहां विद्यार्थियों को उन महान नायकों देशभक्तों की वीर गाथाऔं की जरुरत है, वहां मेरे जैसा ईंग्लिश पढाने वाला अध्यापक अपना स्लेबस पूरा करवाने, परीक्षा करवाने में अपना पूरा समय लगा देता है। क्या सरकार यह मानती है FA1, FA2, SA1, FA3, FA4, SA2 और PSA शुरु कर देने से, स्लेबस पूरा करवाकर, रिविजन करवाकर बच्चों के अंदर नैतिक गुणों का विकास कर सकती है। सरकार अगर PSA की बजाय किसी देशभक्त की वीर गाथा पढने  पर बल देती तो शायद ज्यादा लाभकारी होता। और कक्षाओं में पढाए जाने वाले स्लेबस को कम करके किसी महान व्यक्ति की जीवन गाथा गाई जाती तो शायद अच्छा होता।

परीक्षाएं अनेक बार करवाकर क्या हम शिक्षा के स्तर को उठा सकते हैं? नहीं!

क्या सरकार का ये मानना सही है कि स्लेबस की अधिकता, अधिक से अधिक परीक्षाएं, PSA जैसि परीक्षाएं विद्यार्थियों के अन्दर वो गुणों क विकास करती है जिससे कोई व्यक्ति महान बन सकता है?

मेरी गुजारिश है उन सभी सरकारों से, कल्याण संस्थाओं, स्कूल और शैक्षणिक संस्थाओं से कि हम सब मिलकर शिक्षा के उस स्तर को आगे लाएं जो आज के हिंसात्मक युग में विद्यार्थिओं की अहिंसा का पाठ पढाए। ऐसी शिक्षा जो उनके और उनसे जुडे हर व्यक्तित्व को शांत कर दे। एक ऐसी शिक्षा जो ज्ञानवर्धक होने के साथ -2 सकारात्मक विचारों को पनपने दे। मेरी अपील है कि स्लेबस और परीक्षाओं का बोझ स्कूलों से हटा कर कम किया जाए। कुछ वक्त नैतिक शिक्षा को भी दिया जाए, नहीं तो नैतिकता और शिक्षा की इस लडाई में अध्यापक बेबस और मजबूर स्लेबस बुक और परीक्षा पुस्तकाएं हाथ में लिए आत्मह्त्या कर लेगा और उस शिक्षा का अन्त हो जाएगा जो व्यक्ति के बहूमुखी विकास के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक है।
